A BIS distribution transformer is a low-loss transformer certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards under IS:1180 norms. It is used to step down voltage from 11/33 kV to consumer-usable levels like 440V or 230V.
BIS has defined maximum loss levels for transformers in Star 1, 2, and 3 categories. Makpower’s transformers are manufactured not to exceed these prescribed loss values, ensuring energy efficiency and cost savings.
Makpower offers both copper wound and aluminium wound transformers. Copper provides better conductivity, while aluminium is more cost-effective with lighter weight.
